In Walker’s Woods (March 1, 2025 Wildfire)

Beneath the smoke-filled Carolina sky,
We stood together, hearts open wide.
No labels, no walls, no divide to see—
Just neighbors, just souls, just community.

From different paths, we came to this place,
A tapestry woven of life’s vibrant grace.
Yet when the flames drew near, we knew,
What truly mattered was me and you.

We gathered little—just clothes, just care,
Medicine, memories, odds and ends to spare.
But in our hands, we carried much more:
The strength of a bond no fire could ignore.

In the cul de sac, where stories entwine,
We found a bond no fire could confine.
Through stress and fear, through the darkened night,
We stood as one, a steadfast light.

For in the chaos, a lesson was clear:
Love outweighs all when the end feels near.
No politics, no creed, no shade of skin—
Just hearts beating loud, letting the world in.

Through smoke and flame, they came without fear,
First Responders, their mission clear.
With courage ablaze, they fought the night,
Guardians of hope, fighting a good fight..

Myrtle Beach rallied, the government too,
Local and state, they saw us through.
Resources flowed, from near and far,
A tapestry woven, each thread a star.

Law enforcement came, with hearts sincere,
Knocking on doors, their message clear.
"Stay safe, stay strong, we’re here for you,"
Their guidance steady, their care shone through.
And those who prayed, who gave, who cared,
Their love and compassion were boldly declared.

Then heaven opened, the skies turned gray,
God’s rain will pour down to keep flames at bay.
A blessing of mercy, though storms may roar,
A promise of healing, of hope restored.

So here’s to Walker’s Woods, where hope took root,
Where compassion blossomed, where kindness took fruit.
In a world that divides, we found a way—
Together we stand, come what may.
